Did You Know? World Music Day Started in Paris

In 1982, the Ministry of France established June 21st as Fête de la Musique, or World Music Day. The idea was to bring together people from different backgrounds, cultures and eras over our shared language of the human spirit: music. 

Since then, World Music Day has been celebrated in city streets, at festivals, pubs and in cities across the world. From classical orchestras to rock groups, from solo singer-songwriter artists to EDM DJs, World Music Day is an eclectic mix of musical mayhem. The essence of World Music Day is all about breaking down barriers and bringing people together to get their groove on. It's a day to celebrate the crazy diversity of musical traditions from around the world, creating a sense of unity and cultural exchange. World Music Day also reminds us how freakin' awesome music is. It can make us laugh, cry, and everything in between. It tells stories, brings people together, and creates memories that last a lifetime. By celebrating World Music Day, we're giving a big ol' high-five to the role music plays in our lives and in our communities.
